Mission

Urban Compass provides a safe, welcoming, and innovative environment that challenges our youth to envision and navigate a course for a rewarding future characterized by achievement, independent thought, and social responsibility through education, mentoring, and play.

Vision

The Urban Compass model has been created to serve diverse communities in southern California and can be replicated across the country. This requires a well-structured framework for programmatic success, coupled with a commitment to modify each location to fit the individual make-up of the communities served. The vision is supported by four unique characteristics:

Urban Compass was built in partnership with local schools to enable us to create programs that are specifically tailored to the needs of the community.
Our Program Director grew up in Nickerson Gardens, attended 112th Street Elementary and graduated from Verbum Dei High School and is trusted by the community he now serves.
Our programs involve local university students, faculty members and professionals to introduce
participants to the possibility of going to college and beyond.
We provide a stable and consistent presence in participants’ lives, from kindergarten through
high school and into college.
